PT-6F

The Cunningham - Hall light freighter
model PT-6F, powered with a Wright
Whirlwind R975E-1.

THE Cunningham - Hall light freighter model PT-6F has been developed from the PT-6 six-place cabin airplane. It is powered with the Wright Whirlwind R975E-l, 365 h.p. engine, equipped with a Hamilton Standard controllable pitch propeller.

The freight compartment is 10 ft. long, with a maximum width of 3 1/2 ft. and 5 1/2 ft. maximum height, providing 156 cu. ft. clear space. There is a generous opening 56 inches wide in the side of the fuselage, and a hatch in the ceiling to facilitate loading and unloading of cargo. The interior of the freight compartment is lined with corrugated aluminum alloy sheet.

The pilot's compartment is separate from the freight compartment but is provided with a door to the latter in addition to outside doors on both sides. Another person is also accommodated in the forward compartment by provision of a folding seat that drops beneath the floor when not in use. Dual controls are provided

The entire structure is metal but part of the fuselage and wings are covered with fabric. The landing gear, designed for hard usage, is equipped with 9.5x12 6-ply low pressure tired Warner wheels; the tail wheel is 5.00x4.

The PT -6F airplane has been planned to meet the varying requirements of an operator who desires to carry merchandise, passengers, or combination loads, four quickly removable seats also being supplied for the aft compartment. Special consideration has been given to its use for mining work, the first article being constructed for export shipment for this purpose.
