George Erwin DeLong filed incorporation papers for the DeLong Engine Company in January of 1912. The 1912 Rochester City Directory states that he "removed" to Webster.

Prior to forming his own company he was associated with the Elbridge Engine Company on Culver Road in Rochester, NY. Before that he was associated with several firms in the Syracuse, NY area.
